SOCIAL WELFARE PROGRAM
CORA Social welfare
A majority of the population both in urban, semi-urban and rural areas in Cameroon still lag behind in terms of social welfare and care. The government within the frame work of decentralization has given every community the right to take care of its resources and development but the rural poor are neglected in terms of social amenities and care which is against the U.N Human Right Charter. Disability is a common phenomenon in Cameroon. It results from different circumstances, like birth defects, lack of vaccines, diseases like meningitis, accidents etc. Most of them are stigmatized and neglected, considered as witches and wizards and end up as beggars in the streets.
Faced with this situation CORA think that development will be incomplete when social welfare of the physically challenged and rural poor are not assured, thus, the organization caries out extension services in the domain of social welfare to the rural communities. CORA’s approach is all inclusive so that we leave no one behind in our development work.
