Education for the poor

Education is an indispensable component for effective development. The United Nations Organisation (UNO) has enshrined in its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs4) inclusive and equitable quality education and promotes lifelong learning opportunities for all by 2030. Unfortunately, the rural masses are all victims of poor rural education ranging from infrastructures, furniture and teacher shortages.

As a result, education in rural and urban poor communities faces numerous challenges, such as;

  • Lack of school infrastructure and Dilapidated Structures ( where there is some form of infrastructure)
  • Insufficient and/or Unequipped Classrooms
  • Insufficient Trained Teachers
  • Lack of Water and poor Sanitation in Schools.

This situation results in

  • Poor Performance
  • High Rate of School Drop-Outs
  • Crowded Classrooms, Leading to poor Handwriting and Eventual Failure
  • Risky Learning Environments ( Dilapidated Structures.)

These challenges present a major barrier to the achievement of universal primary education, as enshrined in the first Millennium Development Goal, Sustainable development Goals as well as in Cameroon’s Growth and Employment Strategy Paper.

As a welcome relief, CORA Cameroon comes in with acts of charity to ensure sustainable Education in the Rural Areas in forms like:

  • Scholarships
  • Construction, Renovation and Equipping of schools in Rural Areas
  • School Water project
  • Support for school in paying Teaches.
