Women all over the world are considered the weaker sex and men have over the centuries perceived women as second class citizens in general. The Cameroon case of relegating women to the background of all activities is alarming. The customs and traditions of the people consider a woman as a commodity that can be bought and sold at any time; consequently, such practices retard the growth and development of women and the girl child in particular and community development in general. With the coming of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), agreed upon by 193 governments giving the following to women;
– End discrimination and gender-based violence
– End child marriage and female genital mutilation
– Ensure access to sexual and reproductive health care services and education for all
– Protect women’s and girls’ reproductive rights
– Reduce the burden of unpaid care work on women and girls
– Expand women’s economic opportunities and ensure their rights to resources
– Eliminate gender disparities in schools and ensure equal access to education
This makes the women an important resource or catalyst in all development endeavours as the Beijing Platform for Action guides the women folk in their struggle for empowerment.

Agriculture make 80% of Cameroons GNP but currently, it is facing challenges such as dwindling in crop and livestock yields due to declining soil fertility, poor seeds/breeds, crude management techniques and an increase in family farms which makes cultivation problematic since family land distributed is not cultivated at the same time and purpose in the face of increasing population thus pushing farmers (especially the rural poor) to resort to farming methods that increase yields at the wrong use of synthetic fertilizers/ pesticides, extending of farmland by clearing down forest lands and overgrazing.[hopeButton color=”red” textcolor=”#fff” type=”” url=”https://coracarecharity.org/environnemental-education/” target=”_self” icon=”fa fa-chevron-right”]Learn More[/hopeButton][/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-book” title=”EDUCATION” tab_id=”1482014418384-ebd5ee1a-9b46″ add_icon=”true”][vc_separator][vc_column_text]
Education is an indispensable component for effective development. The United Nations Organisation (UNO) has enshrined in its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs4) inclusive and equitable quality education and promotes lifelong learning opportunities for all by 2030. Unfortunately, the rural masses are all victims of poor rural education ranging from infrastructures, furniture and teacher shortages.
As a result, education in rural and urban poor communities faces numerous challenges, such as;[hopeButton color=”red” textcolor=”#fff” type=”” url=”https://coracarecharity.org/education/” target=”_self” icon=”fa fa-chevron-right”]Learn More[/hopeButton][/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-medkit” title=”HEALTH” tab_id=”1482014697026-a4009e63-3cc9″ add_icon=”true”][vc_separator][vc_column_text]
Acknowledging that health is wealth, goal three of the sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations talks of ensuring health lives and promoting wellbeing for all at all ages by 2030. This perception is as a result of the poor financial background of the rural inhabitants who live on hand-to-month basis. The rural health problems are a major obstacle to effective community development in all rural setups in Cameroon. Thus, CORA which is a charitable rural based organization works for the extension and amelioration of health services to the rural masses as a primordial pillar in their efforts to promote sustainable development.[hopeButton color=”red” textcolor=”#fff” type=”” url=”https://coracarecharity.org/health/” target=”_self” icon=”fa fa-chevron-right”]Learn More[/hopeButton][/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-umbrella” title=”SOCIAL WELFARE” tab_id=”1482016801592-b5cb40e9-776b” add_icon=”true”][vc_separator][vc_column_text]
