DRY SEASON APPEAL

Rural Jakiri is one of the poorest areas in the North West Region of Cameroon. It is made up of 35 hard to reach villages that are separated by rivers.

Building bridges to link up these villages will give parents a new meaning to education especially that of the girl child. This is because the trauma of parents seeing their children swept away by flooded rivers on their way to or from school prevents them from sending their children to school.

It is Dry Season in Cameroon, a convenient period of the year to build bridges in villages prone to flood.

CORA is currently mobilizing local people and seeking financial support for building material for the construction of bridges in the most remote areas of Jakiri.

Through greater community involvement, villagers will provide bricks, stones, wood etc for the construction of schools, Health Centres and bridges that meet to the needs and aspirations of the community in a sustainable way.

Please support CORA with a brick, a bag of cement, a stone or wood. A new bridge will support the educational needs for children in flood-enclined schools, and put an end to long distance trekking and thus encourage many children, especially girls, to return to school.
